Sandpiper Counseling Services was created from a lifetime of traditions, cherished memories, and a deep love for the North Carolina coast. For generations, my family has traveled to Hatteras, NC, where we would sit on the beach watching the sandpipers—affectionately called “run-run birds” by my late mother—darting along the shoreline. With the passing of my parents, maternal grandparents, and uncle between 2017 and 2024, these memories have taken on a deeper meaning. What were once simply birds along the surf became a powerful symbol of resilience—a reminder to keep moving, even as the waves change. The heart of Sandpiper was shaped by countless moments of family, shared experiences, and love. From traveling down the coastline in my car seat as a child to getting engaged to my husband, Jason, on Lighthouse Beach in 2021, the NC coast has remained a constant source of grounding, connection, and reflection throughout my life.
At Sandpiper Counseling Services, we strive to provide a space where clients feel grounded, supported, and encouraged—honoring your unique stories, resilience, and journey toward calmer seas. Sandpiper is more than a name. It represents the courage it takes to heal, adapt, and continue forward. Like the small bird running along the surf, we too can learn to find our footing as the waves of life rise and fall.
With over 20 years of experience in the mental health field, I provide compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals across the lifespan. My background includes extensive work with children, adolescents, and adults. I hold an Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS) certification, providing me with a more thorough understanding of neurodivergent strengths, needs, and challenges. Throughout my career, I have also had the privilege of serving members of the first responder community- offering support that honors their resilience, challenges, and complex emotional landscape that accompanies their work.
At Sandpiper, I combine my professional expertise and experience with the values that shaped this practice- resilience, tradition, and the reminder to move with the waves of life, rather than against them. I combine compassion with the ability to integrate humor through the struggles and tears.
