Following her own experiences in law enforcement and seeing the devastating effects that can present unexpectedly being a first responder, Alisa developed a passion for bringing healing to first responders who have experienced trauma or are currently facing daily struggles that seem impossible to overcome. She studied criminal justice and law enforcement at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, before completing her Masters degree in clinical counseling at Bellevue University in 2015. Alisa is currently a doctoral student at Tiffin University studying Criminal Justice with a specialization in Forensic Psychology.
While in college, she spent five years in State law enforcement before transitioning to a full time career in counseling. She believes that her experience and education have provided a strong foundation in creating a non-judgmental, comfortable and motivating environment for clients, helping them reach their full potential. She has had the opportunity to gain experience in many areas of counseling first responders, such as trauma and PTSD, addiction, life transitions and stressors, sleep concerns and nutrition, domestic violence and legal issues. Alisa is a Certified First Responder Counselor and uses Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to treat a variety of presenting issues related to trauma to help clients find peace in healing and ability to move forward in their lives.
She is a Certified Clinician with the National Public Emergency Responder and Safety Center, as well as an approved provider with the National Fraternal Order of Police, Code Green Campaign and Arkansas State Police. In addition to therapy, she is a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional and Certified Mental Health and Nutrition Clinical Specialist, which she uses to create better resilience and improve health in first responders on the job. Alisa is also certified as a Force Science Analyst through Force Science Institute and is available for consulting on critical incidents. Outside of the office, Alisa serves as the Director of Clinical services for Heroes Behind the Line, a nonprofit providing mental health and wellness services to first responders.
