Shele is a native Texan. Shele has lived worldwide due to supporting her veteran husband during his tenure in the US Air Force. Shele was licensed in 2011 as a Licensed Professional Counselor and became a Supervisor in 2016, now with 12 years of experience. As a counselor, Shele is motivated by her desire to facilitate personal reflection and insight to empower a client through a healthy therapeutic relationship and development of necessary skills. Shele is skilled in working young adults, adults, couples, eating disorders, veterans, and first responders in a variety of mental health agencies. Shele has worked at all treatment levels of care and currently enjoys private practice. Shele specializes in trauma recovery, resiliency recovery,EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), and eating disorders. Shele is very experienced in working with First Responder and Veteran populations. Shele utilizes research-based, therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, among other techniques and clinical approaches to provide change and growth. It is Shele's belief there is no single approach that meets the needs of all clients. Shele's faith has been an important part of her life. It shapes who she as a person but also provides growth and balance of faith to see the change that often has to come from within. She is more than comfortable incorporating spirituality, faith, spiritual walks, or anything else held as a higher power, into the therapeutic journey. The component of spirituality can be extremely helpful to a client's therapeutic journey. Shele is eager to work with clients in this area, but spirituality is always at the client's pace and their invitation never pushed.
Certified First Responder Counselor
Lighthouse-issued certification for clinicians serving first responder populations. Holders complete annual continuing education and maintain an active subscription to retain credential standing.
